Welcome.

This space was created with intention. It exists to center Black women, our histories, our intellect, our faith, our complexity, and our right to be fully human without apology. Everything here is rooted in the belief that Black women deserve to be seen clearly, treated honestly, and understood in historical context rather than stereotype or sound bite.

This blog examines issues that affect the Black community through a historical lens, because nothing we are experiencing now appeared out of nowhere. Systems have memory. Narratives have consequences. I write to connect the dots, name patterns, and tell the truth plainly, even when that truth makes people uncomfortable. Especially then.

You will also find my faith here. I am a Christian, and my faith informs how I move through the world, how I love people, and how I understand justice, accountability, and grace. Faith, for me, is not about silence or submission. It is about clarity, discernment, and the courage to stand in truth.

You will find joy here too. I write about plants because tending to living things teaches patience, care, and resilience. I write about tech and gadgets because curiosity matters and Black women belong in every conversation about innovation and the future. We are not one dimensional, and this space reflects that.

Above all, this blog is a place of affirmation. It is a safe place for people of color, particularly Black women, to feel seen, informed, and grounded. You will not find respectability politics here. You will not find tone policing. You will not find explanations designed to make oppression easier to swallow.

You will find honesty. You will find context. You will find encouragement that does not insult your intelligence or ask you to shrink.

If you are here to learn, reflect, grow, or simply breathe for a moment, you are welcome. If you are here looking for comfort without accountability, this may not be the space for you.

This blog exists to educate, uplift, and remind Black women that we have always been thoughtful, faithful, brilliant, and worthy. Not someday. Always.

We are not here to deal in feelings or vague notions of influence. We are here to deal in cold, hard, often uncredited data and events. The central, irrefutable thesis is this: Black American culture has been, and remains, the primary engine of global cultural innovation, setting trends that the world follows, often without paying the original crea...

Code switching isn’t some quirky, fun linguistic trick or a sign that you’re just “cultured.” It’s a hard-earned survival skill forged in the fires of systemic exclusion and oppression. For Black folks, this practice is less about showing off a well-polished vocabulary and more about navigating a world built to keep us on the margins. First, under...

The Sacred Act of Rest; The Art of Doing Absolutely Nothing

The Radical Power of Doing Nothing⁣⁣ You’ve been sold a lie. Self-care isn’t just about journaling, green smoothies, or sunrise yoga. Real self-care, the kind that actually heals, often looks like doing nothing. And no, I won’t apologize for saying it.⁣ Yet, we resist it. Why? Because stillness forces us to confront the uncomfortable truth that we...

How to Wait Well When Waiting on God

August 17, 2025  •  Leave a Comment
Let’s be brutally honest: waiting on God, at times, can be excruciating. It feels like spiritual asphyxiation, a slow suffocation of hope while heaven remains silent. You pray until your knees ache, fast until your body weakens, declare Scripture until your voice grows hoarse and yet, nothing. The breakthrough doesn’t come. The promise lingers just...

Music as Medicine: Why Your Playlist Might Be Your Best Therapist

August 11, 2025  •  2 Comments
Most of my life, music was my escape and my safe place. As a child drowning in anxiety, it was my lifeline. As a young adult navigating heartbreak, rage, and fleeting joy, it was my translator, the only thing that could express what I couldn’t say. My playlists were my heart, my diaries and my headphones were a sanctuary. It wasn’t just background...
